Our History
In 1976 our founder, John Scarboro, purchased the equipment and name of an existing company called Albany Neon Signs in Albany, GA. John knew very little of the sign industry because his previous career had been in retail, however he threw himself into the business determined to make it a success.
Through hard work, dedication and determination John slowly was able to gain a favorable reputation among his clients and fellow sign companies. In 1977 John purchased a steel fabrication company called Adel Steel and moved the sign company to Adel, GA.
In the years that followed John worked hard to make the sign company grow into the Valdosta area’s best electric and outdoor digital sign company. He was a firm believer in new technology and as such Albany Neon was one of the first companies to purchase the Gerber Signmaker and SignTech heat transfer machine.
John also believed that knowledge was the key to growth and client retention and therefore joined and became active in many sign organizations. John continued to stress to his employees his belief in doing business the right way and as a result the company enjoyed steady growth.
In 1996 a new 17,000 SF facility was built and the company moved to its present location at 700 West Ninth Street, Adel, GA. The move provided the company with much needed room as well as a renewed determination to provide the best quality signage for its clients. At that time a new logo was developed and the company name was formally changed to Albany Neon Signs, Inc. DBA ANS Signs.

Today ANS Signs is operated by John’s grandson, Chris Posey. Under John’s watchful eye, Chris serves as President of Operations, and is well experienced in their positions having worked their way from the bottom up.
The company has grown to 10 full time employees many of which have been employed by the company for 15 years or more. John’s dedication, determination and integrity has been passed on to his employees by way of example. Today, even more than before, ANS Signs pledge to its clients is to provide a top quality product at a fair price.
